Why it matters
It demonstrated pure abstraction as game design: no theme, no violence, perfect rules. Its cold-war licensing saga is legendary, and it has shipped on effectively every game platform since.
Play it today
Official versions exist on essentially every current platform; Tetris Effect (2018) is a celebrated modern take.
